Common Warthog, Phacochoerus africanus. A suid from Subsaharan Africa. The species is separated into four subspecies: 

  • Nolan warthog P. a. africanus from Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Chad, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal and Sudan
  • Eritrean warthog P. a. aeliani from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia
  • Central African warthog P. a. massaicus from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
  • Southern warthog P. a. sundevallii from Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe
